Two trains are travelling side by side, facing in the same direction. Train A is travelling at 35km/h and Train B at 30km/h. Calculate the relative speed.

The relative speed is always calculated with respective frame...

let us consider in the above question ..relative speed of a w.r.t b then it becomes s( ab)= s(a)- s(b)

35-30=5 kmn per hr

when its relative velocity w.r.t a then s( ba)= s(b ) -s(a)...30-35= - 5 km per hr which means if u suppose sit on the train a and observe train b you will be noticing that train b will be moving backwards with 5 km per hr speed ...here negative sign tell the direction.
