Let the speed of the first train be a km/h

Let the speed of the second train = b km/h

Time = Distance/Speed

Time taken by first train = x/a = 4

From which a = x/4

Time taken by the second train = x/b = 9

From which b = x/9

The ratio of their speeds

= a : b = x/4 : x/9

= 9 : 4
