Fraction of water in 1st = 1/3

Fraction of water in 2nd= 2/7

So,fraction of water in resulting sample when we mix sample 1 and sample 2 in ratio 1:4 will be

(1*1/3 + 4*2/7)/(1+4) = 31/105

Therefore fraction of milk ° 1–31/105=74/105

So ratio of water and milk will be 31:74.

Answer:

The vessels contain water and milk in the ratio 1:2 and 2:5 aremixed in the ratio 1:4. The resulting mixture will have water and milk in the ratio. Ratio of Water to Milk = 155/370 = 31:74.
