The water and squash ratio in the blend will be 23 : 7

Explanation

Two water squash mixture are blended in the ratio of 1 : 2

So, lets assume that the amount of first mixture is x and the amount of second mixture is 2x

The first mixture having a water to squash ratio of 4 : 1

So, in the first mixture, the amount of water =x*\frac{4}{4+1}=\frac{4x}{5}  and the amount of squash =x*\frac{1}{4+1}=\frac{x}{5}

The second mixture having a water to squash ratio of 3 : 1

So, in the second mixture, the amount of water =2x*\frac{3}{3+1}=\frac{6x}{4}=\frac{3x}{2} and the amount of squash =2x*\frac{1}{3+1}=\frac{2x}{4}=\frac{x}{2}

Thus, the total amount of water = \frac{4x}{5}+\frac{3x}{2}=\frac{23x}{10} and the total amount of squash = \frac{x}{5}+\frac{x}{2}= \frac{7x}{10}

So, the water and squash ratio in the blend will be.....

\frac{23x}{10}:\frac{7x}{10}\\ \\ =23x:7x= 23: 7

The water in the first squash is 4:1 and while the other contains 3: 1.

They both are put together in the 1: 2 water

Hence, let the total amount of first be x hence the water level will be 4x, then similarly take the quantity as y for the second one where it is 3y.

When it is put together in the 1: 2 then you will obtain 5x: 4y = 1: 2

This ration can be used as 5x/ 4y = ½

Hence, 5x * 2 = 4y

Y = 4/10 x = 2/5 x

Now the blended water will be,

4x + 3y /x + y

Put the value of y from above to this equation and solve it, you will get the answer as 23/7
