Two waves E, = Esinwt and E, = E sin(wt+60) superimpose each other then find out initial phase
of resultant wave ?
(1) 30°
(2) 60°
(3) 120°
(4) 0°​

Answer: Let initial phase angle be ¢. Now , the angle made by resultant wave with the first wave is

tan¢ = [E Sin60°]/[E + E Cos60°]

=> tan¢ = [(√3)*2]/[2*3]

=> tan ¢ = 1/√3

=> ¢ = 30°.
