Resistivity :-

It is the property of a substance to resist the flow of charges in an electric circuit.

Resistance depends on :-

(i) Length of wire

(ii) Material of wire

(iii) Cross sectional area

Question :-

Two wires of copper and other the of manganese have equal length and equal resistances. Which is thicker? (Given that resistivity of manganese is lower than that of copper)

Answer :-

We know that, Resistivity is inversely proportional to Cross sectional area that is, R ∝ 1/A.

If resistivity decreases the thickness increases.

Therefore, as the resistivity of manganese is lesser than copper, it is more thicker.
