Solution :

Let us assume that the present age of Dilip is x years .

Two years , the age of Dilip was ( x - 2) years .

( x - 2 ) = 3 [ His sons ago 2 years ago ]

=> [ His sons age 2 years ago ] = ( x - 2)/3

His sons present age

=> ( x - 2)/3 + 2

=> ( x - 2 + 6)/3

=> ( x + 4)/3

After 2 years

• His age

=> ( x + 2 ) years

• His sons age

=> ( x + 4)/3 + 2

=> [ x + 10]/3 years

Now , 2( x + 2) = 5 × ( x + 10)/3

=> 6( x + 2) = 5( x + 10)

=> 6x + 12 = 5x + 50

=> x = 38

Son's age :

( 38 + 4)/3

=> 14

Hence , their present ages are 14 years and 38 years respectively.

Thus , option A is correct .
