Answer:

hope it will help you .

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the age of Salim =x and the age of the daughter =y, both in year.

Then two years back their ages are

x−2 and y−2 respectively.

∴ by the given condition

x−2=3(y−2)

⇒x−3y=−4 ........(i)

Again six years later their ages will be

x+6 and y+6 respectively.

∴ by the given condition

x+6=2(y+6)+4

⇒x−2y=10 ........(ii)

Subtracting (ii) from (i), we get

−y=−14

⇒y=14

Putting y=14 in (i), we get

x−3×14=−4

⇒x=38

So, Salim's present age =38 yrs and his daughter's present age =14 yrs.

Correct Question -

Two years ago, lalim was thrice as old as his daughter and six years later, he will be four years older than twice her age. How old are they now?

Answer -

Let the lalim's age be x and his daughter's age be y.

Two years ago -

  • x - 2
  • y - 2

According to the Question-

x-2 = 3(y-2)

→ x - 3y = -4 [ equation 1 ]

Six years later their ages be -

  • x + 2
  • y + 2

x+6=2(y+6)+4

→ x − 2y = 10 [ equation 2 ]

Now, by subtracting equation 2 from equation 1 , we get -

x - 2y = 10

x - 3y = -4

___________

-y = -14

___________

  • y = 14

Therefore, daughter's age is 14 years.

Putting value of y in equation 1 -

⇒ x - 3(14) = -4

⇒ x - 42 = -4

⇒ x = 42 - 4

x = 38

Therefore, lalim's age is 38 years.
