Let The present age of Ramesh be x
and his son be y

Two years ago :-

Ramesh age :- x - 2
Son's age :- y - 2

• Ramesh is 3 times as old as his son

x - 2 = 3 ( y - 2 )

x - 2 = 3y - 6

x = 3y - 6 + 2

x = 3y - 4 ..... ( i )

After two years :-

Ramesh age :- x + 2
Son age :- y + 2

• Twice of Ramesh age is equal to five times that of his son

2 ( x + 2 ) = 5 ( y + 2 )

2x + 4 = 5y + 10

2x - 5y = 10 - 4

2x - 5y = 6 ..... ( ii )

Putting value of x from ( i ) in ( ii )

2x - 5y = 6

2 ( 3y - 4 ) - 5y = 6

6y - 8 - 5y = 6

y = 6 + 8

y = 14

Putting in ( i )

x = 3y - 4

x = 42 - 4

x = 38

Ramesh age :- 38 years
Son' s age :- 14 Years

ayush: thank you for solving this trick maths question
ALTAF11: my pleasure :)
