Let Tarun's Son's age 2 years ago be
x years

So, Tarun's age 2 years ago be 3x years

2 years hence »

Tarun's Son's age = (x + 4) years

Tarun's age = (3x + 4) years

According to Question,

2(3x + 4) = 5(x + 4)

⇒ 6x + 8 = 5x + 20

⇒ 6x - 5x = 20 - 8

⇒ x = 12

Required ages 2 years ago »

Tarun's Son's age = x = 12 years

Tarun's age = 3x = 3(12) = 36 years

Required present ages »

Tarun's Son's age = (12 + 2) = 14 years

Tarun's age = (36 + 2) = 38 years

Hence, the present age of Tarun and Tarun's Son are 38 years and 14 years respectively.
