Answer:

It is given that ,

The sum of ages of Hema and her son is 72 years.

Thus,

Let ,The present age of Hema = x years

The present age of her son=(72-x)years

Now,

Age of Hema 2 years ago = (x-2) years

Age of Hema's son 2 years ago

= (72-x-2) years

= (70-x) years

Now,

According to the question,

Two years ago ,the age of Hema was three times the age of her son.

Thus,

=> (x-2) = 3(70-x)

=> x - 2 = 210 - 3x

=> x + 3x = 210 + 2

=> 4x = 212

=> x = 212/4

=> x = 53

Thus,

The present age of Hema is 53 years.

Moreover,

The present age of Hema's son

= (72 - 53) years

= 19 years.
