Answer:

Let ganesh's present age be x and his son's age be y

Two years after,

Ganesh's age = x + 2

His son's age = y + 2

By data,

Ganesh's age = 4( His son's age )

x + 2 = 4(y+2)

x+2 = 4y+8

x-4y = 8-2

x-4y = 6-----------------------Equation 1

Two years ago,

Ganesh's age = x - 2

His son's age = y - 2

By data,

Ganesh's age = 7( His son's age )

x - 2 = 7(y - 2)

x - 2 = 7y - 14

x - 7y = -14 + 2

x - 7y = -12----------------------------Equation 2

By changing sign from eq 1 and eq 2 we get,

x - 4y = 6-----------------------Equation 1

-x + 7y = +12----------------------------Equation 2

3y = 18

y = 6

We can find value of x by substituting the value of y in eq 1,

x - 4y = 6

x - 4(6) = 6

x - 24 = 6

x = 6 + 24

x = 30

Therefore,

x = 30 which means Ganesh's age is 30 years

y = 6 which means his son's age is 6 years

Hope this helps you.................
