When a metal comes in contact with an acid chemical corrosion takes place. For example when iron comes into contact with certain acids corrosion takes place because new compounds are formed. Sometimes electro-chemical corrosion can take place when metallic water pipes come into contact with the weak acids in the ground.

Acidic corrosion takes place whenever the metal comes in contact of the acid.
This is because as soon as acid comes in contact of metal the chemical reaction takes place between them resulting in corrosion of metal.
Moreover whenever the metal is placed in the open air they cause corrosion .
if that corrosion takes place in the iron it will be known as "rusting of iron"
which we see in normally rusted iron in daily life.
