There are different types of eggs that are classified based on their distribution of yolks,
- Alecithal Egg: When the egg does not contain any yolk matter present it is termed as alecithal eggs.
- Microlecithal Egg or oligolecithal eggs: When a very negligible quantity of yolk matter is present, the eggs are termed as microlecithal eggs.
- Mesolecithal Egg: When the quantity of yolk present in the eggs seems to be moderate, it is termed as mesolecithal eggs.
- Macrolecithal or Megalecithal or Polylecithal Egg: When the quantity of yolk is very high, then they are termed as macrolecithal eggs.
