There are 4 types of friction they are listed below :

1) Sliding friction - sliding friction comes into play when an object is sliding over another.

2) Rolling friction - when one body rolls over another body , rolling friction comes into play.

3) Static friction - Static friction comes into play when we try to move an object at rest.

4) fluid friction - fluid friction can be minimised by giving suitable shapes to bodies moving in fluids.

Static friction:- The frictional force caused when body is at rest

Static friction is self adjusting friction and is equal to force applied when the object is at rest bt opposite in direction

Sliding friction:-The frictional force applied when objects are in motion

When objects are in motion then the surfaces do not get enough time for interlocking and hence less friction

Rolling friction:-The frictional force applied when a body rolls on another body

Fluid friction:- Fluids flow layer wise due to this when one layer moves second layer offers some resistant

Static friction > Sliding friction > Rolling friction
