There are 3 types of solution.

1. Hypertonic solution: In this there is a high water concentration inside the cell. Thus, the water from the cell would enter the external environment where there is a low water concentration. Remember the water flow form high water concentration to low water concentration. Also, this process is called Exosmosis, because the water is flowing OUT from the cell and the cell will shrink.

2. Hypotonic Solution: It has low water concentration in the inside of the cell. So the water flows out. This is called Endosmosis. The cell will swell.

3. Isotonic: The water concentration is equal inside and outside the cell. Thus, nothing happens.
