Answer:

-1.112

Explanation:

initial speed,u = 80km/h = 22.22mps

final speed,v = 60km/h = 16.66mps

a = (v-u)/t

= (16.66-22.22)m/5s

= -1.112 m/s^2

Question:

A bus decreases its speed from 80 km/h to 60 km/h in 5 s. Find the acceleration of the bus?

Answer:

Given:-

• Initial Speed of Bus (u) = 80 km/h

Multiply by 1000 to convert it into metres,

= 80 × 1000 / 60 × 60

= 22.22 m/s

• Final Speed of Bus (v) = 60 km/h

= 60 × 1000/ 60 × 60

= 16.66 m/s

• Time Taken (t) = 5 s

Formula Used :-

Acceleration (a) = v - u/t

Putting Values in the Formula:

a = 16.66 - 22.22/ 5

a = -5.56 /5

a = - 1.11 m/s

Thus,

Acceleration of the bus (Retardation) is -1 .11 m/.
