It is an epic poem which revels the never say die attitude of Ulysses, the main protagonist. He might be old in age but still betas the enthusiasm and passion of a young mariner, just like son Telemachus. His minds wishes to travel new places and discover new knowledge. He declares that his son will look after government and he would keep travelling throughout his life. He wants to reach paradise after his death and calls his old team of Mariners to join him in a new voyage.
