Answer: As per article 22 of the Indian constitution, a person can be detained for a period of 3 months except for certain provisional detention.
However, the person has to be produced before a judicial magistrate after proper medical examination within 24 hours of the arrest or detention.
The parliament can amend the clause as and when required.
