Under what circumstances would a renewable natural resource NOT be renewable?

Maybe because of the climatic conditions,they can't be renewed...For example,coal takes millions of years to form because of climatic condition it needs.

Many possibilities here... 

1. If we polluted and darkened our skies to the point where we made the sun's renewable resource void. 

2. If the sun were to become a red dwarf sooner than astronomers predict, it wouldn't matter because the first four planets in our solar system would be engulfed and incinerated. 

3. Wind is renewable, but if the ocean were affected by global warming to the point were it changed weather patterns (and it has), then winds of change would arrive. It is hard to harness to the power of hurricane force winds.
