Answer:
Torque = 1.53 x 10⁻³ Nm
Explanation:
Given:
Magnetic Field(B) = 100 Gauss = 0.01 T
Length of wire(L) = 44 cm = 0.44 m
Current (I) = 10 A
torque (τ) = ?
According to question,
angle (θ) made by the plane of the coil is perpendicular to the direction of magnetic field
i.e. θ = 90° which means the coil is circular shaped.
Therefore,
L = 2πr
or, 0.44 = 2πr
or, 0.44 / 2π = r
∴ r = 0.07 m
Now,
Area of the coil = πr² = π x (0.07)² = 0.0153 m²
We have,
τ = B I N A sinθ
τ = 0.01 x 10 x 1 x 0.0153 x sin90
τ = 1.53 x 10⁻³ Nm
