(1) Its a plant which when touched, contracts its leaves.
(2) Its called Mimosa pudica in scientific language, Touch-Me-Not Plant as a commonname and "Chui Mui" in Hindi Language.
(3) When touched, this sensitive leaf reacts to stimulus as there is a higher pressure at that point and the water in the vacuoles of the cells of the leaf lose water to the adjacent cell.
(4) All the water escapes the leaf (via the pulvinus) which then becomes flaccid.
This causes the leaves to close.
(5) It majorly possesses antibacterial, antivenom, antifertility, anticonvulsant, antidepressant, aphrodisiac, and various other pharmacological activities. (6) The herb has been used traditionally for ages, in the treatment of urogenital disorders, piles, dysentery, sinus, and also applied on wounds.
