Unpolarized light with intensity lo is incident
two polatoids. The axis of the first
polaxold makes an angle of 50° with vertical
and the areis of the second polaroid is
hoεizontal. What is the intensity of the
light after it has passed the ough the
second polaroid ?

Answer:

Solution : (a) When an unpolarized light of intensity I0 is passed through a polaroid , its intensity becomes I02. No , it does not depend on the orientation of the polaroid as in unpolarized light electric vectors are randomly polarized in all the directions.
