when soap is added to water, the hydrophobic 'tail' of soap will lot dissolve in water and soap will align along the surface of water with ionic ends in water and hydrocarbons 'tail' out of water by forming cluster of molecules called micelle. ... micelles trap dirt, grease, oily spots, etc.
