HOLA SIS!!
Great way to ask a question....
(i) Gas X (Oxygen) is a combustible gas as well as supporter of combustion.
Gas Y (Carbon dioxide) does not seem to be combustible.
[I cannot clearly understand your first question, I'm sorry].
(ii)
The process that can produce gas X:
H₂O₂ ------MnO₂-------> H₂ + O₂
Gas X refers to oxygen. The reaction can be named as catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, where black coloured manganese dioxide is used as catalyst.
The process to produce gas Y:
Na₂CO₃ + 2HCl --------> 2NaCl + H₂O + CO₂
Gas Y is carbon dioxide, which can be produced simply by reacting carbonate or bicarbonate salts with dilute acids like hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulphuric acid or acetic acid.
(iii) When gas Y (Carbon dioxide) increases in the atmosphere, the animal life (including the lives of human beings) will be harmed. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas which will not let the Sun's heat (that is trapped in the earth) go out of the earth and will keep on absorbing the heat of the Sun, which will lead to rise in average temperature of the earth, which is popularly known as global warming. Also, increased CO₂ in the atmosphere will lead to the closure of stomata in the leaves of the plants, which will result in less occurence of photosynthesis, thus the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere will gradually decrease.
Again, there are certain phenomena called as Hypoxia and Asphyxiation. In both of these phenomena, the carbon dioxide content in our blood is increased, due to which the cells of our body get less oxygen to function properly. Asphyxiation may even lead to death.
HOPE MY ANSWER IS SATISFACTORY......
Thank you ...!
