Answer:

2250

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi,

Let 'X' be the number of shares sold

Given face value of a share = Rs 20

Given Rate of dividend = 8 %

= 8/100 * 20 = Rs 1.6 /share

Dividend for 'X' number of shares will be = 1.6X----------(1)

Given selling price of Rs 20 shares = Rs 18

For X shares, he earns 18X by selling

Sum Invested in Rs 10 shares = Rs 18X

Face Value of each share = Rs 10

Given 50% premium for share

So, Premium = 50/100*10 = Rs 5

So, Market Value = Face Value + Premium

= Rs 15

So, Number of Shares Purchased

= Total Amount Invested/Market Value of Share

= 18X/15

= 1.2X

Income on Each Share , = 12% of 10

= Rs 1.2

Income on 1.2X shares will be = 1.2*1.2X

= 1.44X----------(2)

From (1) and (2), we can observe that the

Change in Income = 1.6X - 1.44X

= 0.16X = Rs 360

X = 360/0.16

= 2250

Hence, Total Number of shares sold by Urvashi are 2250

Hope, it helps !
