Given : points A (0, 1) and B (– 2, 4)

To Find :  Reflect in the line x = 2

Plot a point C, which is invariant in the line x = 2 and also invariant in y = 6.

Solution:

2 cm = 1 unit

A ( 0 , 1)

2 cm above from origin

B (- 2, 4)

4 cm left from origin and then 8 cm above

A ( 0 , 1)   reflect about x = 2

=> A' = (  4 , 1)

B (- 2, 4)   reflect about x = 2

=> B' = (  6 , 4)

point invariant in the line x = 2   is ( 2 , y)

point invariant in the line y = 6   is ( x , 6)

point C, which is invariant in the line x = 2 and also invariant in y = 6.

( 2 , 6)

figure formed on joining the points   is Pentagon
