Hi,
Here is the answer to your query:-
\bold{Electric\:Motor}---
A device which converts electrical energy to mechanical energy.
Electric motor consits of Armature coil, Split rings, Carbon brushes and strong magnets.
Uses of these parts:
1)\texttt{Armature\:coil} : the Armature Coil carries current. When this current carrying Armature is kept in a magnetic field it experiences a force and starts rotating.
2)\texttt{Split\:Rings} : The function of the split rings is to reverse the direction of current flowing through the coil every time the coil just passes the vertical position during the revolution.
3)\texttt{Carbon\:Brushes} : The function of Carbon Brushes is to make contact with the rotating Split Rings and through them to supply the current.
4)\texttt{Strong\:Magnets} : The only function performed by magnets is to produce a magnetic field.
