Use of cutting fluid during metal cutting is
desired to
(a) Reduce the rigidity of chips
(b) Reduce the coefficient of friction between
chip and tool
(c) Reduce the temperature rise due to cutting

It is used to decrease cofficient of friction between parts of machines.Because by using of oil it convert solid friction to fluid friction which act between layer of part machine which is alway less than solid friction. So in this way machine work easily with-out producing heat effect.
