hello
CALORIFIC VALUE :
The amount of heat energy liberated when 1 kilogram of a fuel is burned, is called its calorific value or heat value. This liberated heat energy is measured in kiloJoule (kJ). The higher the calorific value of a fuel the better fuel it is.

Although wood has a very high calorific value, we still discourage its use as a fuel because :

1.Wood release unburnt carbon particles. These fine particles are dangerous pollutants causing respiratory diseases such as asthma.

2. Incomplete combustion of wood give carbon monoxide gas which is a very poisonous gas and pollute the air.

3. Combustion of fuels like wood releases carbon dioxide in the environment causes global warming (rise in the temperature of the atmosphere).

4. To use wood as a fuel leads to deforestation.

5. Trees give us many useful substances. If we use wood as a fuel we cut down trees and then we can't get useful substances from trees.
