1. Assertive/Declarative

A sentence that expresses Affirmation or Negative is called an Assertive or Declarative sentence. It denotes positive or negative sense.

Examples:

1. The house needs painting. (Affirmation)

2. They need not go to office on Sunday. (Negation)

2. Imperative:

There are four ways which we can express Imperative sentences. They are: a) command b) request c) advice d) suggestion. It is spoken to the second person and usually begins with a verb.

Examples:

3. Interrogative:

A sentence which is used to ask a question is said to be an Interrogative sentence.

Example:

4. Exclamatory:

A sentence which is used to express a sudden surprise is said to be an Exclamatory Sentence.

Example:

1. How nice to see you today!

2. How well she sings!
