Answer: At first, Odysseus acts without thinking about consequences. He waits around out of curiosity to see the Cyclops and then taunts him, getting himself in trouble. Later, he learns to control himself by waiting for the perfect moment to seek revenge on the suitors. Sometimes it is harder and takes more strength to wait than to act.

“true strength is knowing when not to act” -

  1. it was in the beginning of the story that it was showed that Odysseus was too haughty and proud. he was quick to act in every situation.
  2. this can be seen when Odysseus was quick to tell his name to Cyclops and ends up being cursed by Poseidon.
  3. but however, at the end . he pretends to be an old man who is old, patient and calm.
