Hi friend, here is your answer
Ans:- A Set is a collection of well defined objects.
we come across , the usage of sets in our everyday life.
a) in the kitchen , the utensils are arranged in such a manner that the plates are kept seperately, bowls are kept seperately etc.
b) in our bag , we keep our note books in a partition and all the text books in another partition.
c) when we visit mobile showrooms , we obseerve that smart phones like galaxy duos,lumia etc. are seperated from the old pieces.
IN THESE EXAMPLES , LET US CONSIDER EXAMPLE (a).
IN THIS EXAMPLE , PLATES ARE CONSIDERED AS ONE SET AND BOWLS ARE CONSIDERED AS ANOTHER SET.
A set in mathematics is a collection of well defined and distinct objects, considered as an object in its own right. Sets are one of the most fundamental concepts in mathematics
SETS : Every set has some elements in it. Sets are denoted by capital letters A,B,C,D......
Number of elements in a set A is denoted by n(A).
A = {1,2,3,g,j,d};B = {1,2,6,7,d,k,n} are examples of sets
SUBSET AND SUPERSET:
let us consider 2 sets A,B.
If n(A).> n(B) and A contains all elements in Band some other elements, then A is called superset of B. and similarly B is called subset of A.
set A={1,2,3,4,5,6,7,Y,T,H}
SET B ={1,2,3,T,H}
UNION AND INTERSECTION OF SETS:
(AUB) is union of sets A and B which means a resultant set which contains all the elements of A and B.
(A∩B) is intersection of sets A and B which means a resultant set which contains all the elements common in A and B.
hope this helps
