Modem is a device. .....which converts digital signal to analog signal and back to digital signal.
To be more particular modem provides more faster way of passing information ......sending and receiving everything in 0's and 1's. However, if you are connected to the Internet from your home /office via a telephone line then a modem is required for data transmission to take place. .....
