As we know the identities:-

(a + b)(a + b) = a² + b²

and,

(a + b)(a - b) = a² - b²

So, (2x - y)(2x + y)

= (2x)² - (y)²

= 4x² - y²

So,

= (4x² - y²)(4x² - y²)

= (4x²)² - (y²)²

= 16x⁴ - y⁴
