Explanation:

Here

x + 2y = - 1

x = -1 - 2y ..... 1st

2x - 3y = 12 .......2nd

than,

substituting the value of x in 2nd eqn,

2( -1 - 2y) - 3y = 12

-2 - 4y - 3y = 12

-2 -7y = 12

-7y = 12 + 2

-7y = 14

y = 14 / -7

y = -2 answer

Also,

x + 2y = -1

x -4 = - 1

x = 3 answerr

Answer: Given that,

x+2y=-1 and 2x-3y=12

From equation 1

X=-(1+2y)

Substitute x value in equation 2

-2(1+2y)-3y=12

-2-4y-3y=12

-7y=14

y=-2

Substitute y value in equation 1

X=-(1+2(-2))

X=-(1-4)

X=3
