a test cross is performed to identify the genotype of the test.
ex.
if u have a tall plant and u want to find if it is a pure breeder or not then
first u will assume the genotype to be TT/ Tt and cross it with a pure recessive type i.r. tt if the plant is a pure tall then all the F1 generation will be tall
but if its not then the recessive trait will show up in F1 gen.
ex.
