The Models of communication are referred to the conceptual model that is used for explaining the process of a human communication. Claude Elwood Shannon and Warren Weaver gave the first major model for communication in 1949 for the Bell Laboratories.

They defined communication as the process of transferring information or sending messages and receiving them from one part called the sender to another part known as the receiver. Communication is defined as the social interaction wherein there are at least two interacting agents that share a common set of signs and semiotic rules.

According to the Interactive Model, communication has 2 linear models that are stacked on the top of each other. A message is channeled by the sender to the receiver and the receiver. The receiver then channels another message to the original sender and in turn becomes the sender. This model defines communication as a two-way process and not a one way process.
