Irregular and sporadic cycling causes the cramps in muscles. as the oxygen gets lower in the cells. As in that time muscle require more energy thus the oxygen is consumed in producing that energy. so muscles go anaerobic respiration which leads to the production of lactic acid. and results in muscles cramps
Stretching should be done, drink lots of water and eat food rich in magnesium.

Irregular cycling causes muscle cramps because of deficiency of oxygen in muscle cells. During cycling muscles needs more oxygen which is used up to produce energy. Due to no or lack of oxygen muscles undergo anaerobic respiration to meet the energy requirements. This leads to the production of lactic acid which causes muscle cramps.

Stretching, warming up, drinking lots of water, vitamins and calcium are remedies.
