Therefore, the breaking weight

= a x L x 3 x 103 x 9.8 ...(i)

Also, breaking stress = 10⁶ N/m²

Therefore, breaking weight = 10⁶ x a ...(ii)

From the equations (i) and (ii),

we have

a x L x 3 x 10³ x 9.8 = 10⁶ x a

or, L = {10⁶}/{3 x 10³ x 9.8} = 34 m

Hence, option (3) is correct.
