ग्रह तारों की अपेक्षा पृथ्वी के बहुत पास है तथा बिंदु आकार के स्रोतों से मिलकर एक विस्तृत स्रोत बन जाते हैं । दूरी कम होने एवं प्रकाश स्रोत बन जाने के कारण परिवर्तन का औसत मान शून्य हो जाता है इसलिए ग्रह टिमटिमाते नहीं।
