x^2 +3x +p is divisible by x-2
this means that x=2 will satisfy the equation that is eq. will become zero by putting 2 .
now putting x=2
2^2 +3×2+p=0
4+6+p=0
so p=-10 ans

The value of p = - 10

Given :

(x² + 3x + p) divisible by (x - 2)

To find :

The value of p

Solution :

Solution :

Step 1 of 3 :

Write down the given polynomial

Let the given polynomial = f(x)

Then f(x) = x² + 3x + p

Step 2 of 3 :

Find the remainder when x² + 3x + p is divided by x - 2

Let g(x) = x - 2

For Zero of the polynomial g(x) we have

g(x) = 0

⇒ x - 2 = 0

⇒ x = 2

By Remainder Theorem the required Remainder

= f(2)

= 2² + 3 × 2 + p

= 4 + 6 + p

= p + 10

Step 3 of 3 :

Find the value of p

Since the remainder = 0

∴ p + 10 = 0

∴ p = - 10

Hence the required value of p = - 10
