Explanation:

the 10 A. WILL BE BRANCHED INTO TWO CURRENTS i1 through R and 10 -i1 through 14 ohm.

further more , 5+i1 will go through the 1 ohm , and 15 A. through the 2 ohms resistor

using kirchoff's laws

first loop : 100 = 14(10-i1) + 30 , i1 = 5A

second loop : 40 = 10 + 30  ,,,,,, O.K.

third loop : 5R +5 = 14x5

R = 13 ohm
