litres of fuel when they are launched into space. When the space shuttle returns to the earth
from space, it faces many risks. When it comes back to the earth, it moves at a very high speed.
As it enters the earth's atmosphere, the air causes friction. This friction makes the spacecraft
heat up to a temperature of 2,691 degrees. Many spacecrafts were destroyed when they tried to
re-enter the earth. The latest space shuttles have specially designed ceramic tiles. These absorb
some of the heat and prevent the spacecraft from getting burnt.
