u = 36km/hr = 10m/s

v = 0m/s (since brakes are applied)

t = 5seconds

We know,

v = u+at

0= 10+5a

-10=5a

a = -2 m/s²

The retardation/negative acceleration of the car = -2m/

We know,

v²=u²+2as

0=10²+2(-2)s

0=100-4s

-100=-4s

s = 25m

Distance travelled by the car before it stopped = 25m

Cheers!

Answer:

firstly convert time into second 36

×5/18

10metre per second

v-u÷t

10 -0÷ 5 (u=0)

2m/s²

the retardation is 2m/s²
