arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart whereas veins carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart, expect pulmonary vein that carries oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart and pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood from body to heart

arteries carry oxygenated blood which is rich in oxygen away from the heart whereas veins carry deoxygenated blood towards the heart ,there are exceptions that pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood towards the heart and pulmonary veins carry oxygenated blood from lungs to heart which is then transported through aorta to different body parts
