Velocity ratio is always greater than MA why?

Because of friction, air resistance, this Ideal situation would never be achieved. ... The mechanical advantage(M.A) of a real machine is always less than its velocity ratio(V.R) because mechanical advantage decreases due to the friction and weight of moving parts of the machine whereas the velocity ratio remains constant.
