To verify : verify and name the property in \frac{9}{8}\times (\frac{3}{4}\times \frac{5}{7})=(\frac{9}{8} \times \frac{3}{4} )\times \frac{5}{7}

Solution :

  • According to question we are asked to find the property applied in the following expression ,

       \frac{9}{8}\times (\frac{3}{4}\times \frac{5}{7})=(\frac{9}{8} \times \frac{3}{4} )\times \frac{5}{7}

  • Here we can see that associative property of multiplication is used .
  • Associative property states that if we multiply any three real numbers , the grouping of numbers does not changes the outcome result .
  • Verifying property :
  • \frac{9}{8}\times (\frac{3}{4}\times \frac{5}{7})=(\frac{9}{8} \times \frac{3}{4} )\times \frac{5}{7}
  • LHS = \frac{9}{8}\times (\frac{3}{4}\times \frac{5}{7})

                =\frac{9}{8} \times ( \frac{15}{28} ) \\\\= \frac{135}{224} \\

  • RHS = (\frac{9}{8} \times \frac{3}{4} )\times \frac{5}{7}

               = \frac{15}{28}\times \frac{5}{7}  \\\\= \frac{135}{224}

  • Therefore , LHS = RHS

Hence , verified that  associative property is used in the given expression.
