║⊕ANSWER⊕║

● Hardy-Weinberg principle -

- The Hardy-Weinberg principle states that a population's allele and genotype frequencies will remain constant in the absence of evolutionary mechanisms.

- Mathematically,

p^2 + 2pq + q^2 = 1

● Arithmetic proof -

Let's consider two parents with genotype Aa reproduce.

In the offsprings,

p^2 = AA = 0.25

pq = Aa = 0.50

q^2 = aa = 0.25

Taking LHS,

LHS = p^2 + 2pq + q^2

LHS = 0.25 + 2×0.25 + 0.25

LHS = 1

LHS = RHS
