Verify a-(-b)= a+b for the following values of a and b.

One has been done for you

Example on How to do: a = 21, b= 18

Answer: Consider LHS

a-(-b) ⇒ 1

Substitute the value of a and b = 21 - (-18) = 21 + (18) = 39

Consider RHS

a+b=21+18=39

∴ LHS = RHS = 39

a-(-b)=a+b

Hence Verified

Answer:

(i) a = 21, b = 18

a – (-b)  = 21-(-18)

21-(-18) = 21 + 18

21+18= 39

a + b = 21+18

21+18 = 39

21-(-18) = 21+18 = 39

(ii) a = 118, b = 125

a – (-b)  = 118 – (- 125)

118- (- 125) = 118 + 125 = 243

a + b = 118 + 125

118 + 125 = 243

118 – (- 125) = 118 + 125 = 243
